The work made because the story deserved it. Short films, documentary pieces, and the ones that started as a favour and turned into something. Shorashim, The Shabbos Ima, the Chabad of South Beach and Russian Center gala films, Common Grounds Café, A Secret Proposal at Vizcaya. Some raised money. Some simply told the truth about a place. Why these matter commercially They are where the craft gets tested. A commercial has a brief keeping it upright; a short film has nothing but whether the story holds. Most of what I bring to a paid job — how long to stay on a face, when to cut away, when to let a room be quiet — was worked out on films like these. If you have one of these in your own world A parent whose story nobody has recorded. A place about to change. An organisation whose founder is still here to tell it. These are the projects people regret not making, and the window on them is shorter than it looks. Legacy films are where that usually lands, and the case studies go into how a few of these came together.
