SitFit Chair

Some productions start with weeks of casting. This one started in the middle of another shoot.

While I was filming a music video for Diana Pombo, I got a call about an upcoming commercial for the SitFit Chair. They needed someone last minute to play the main character, an eccentric personality who could pull off a convincing British accent.

Diana's friend Dallen happened to be there. I asked if anybody knew someone who might work.

Dallen basically said, "I think I can do that."

We filmed a quick audition right there on set, sent it over, and they loved him. He got the job.

A very different kind of fitness commercial

From there things got even more interesting.

We headed to Happy Farms for a production involving horses, scrolls, trumpets, comedy, and a wonderfully over-the-top visual world built around the SitFit Chair.

My friend Gad Elbaz wrote the jingle, Dallen committed completely to the character, and the whole production became one of those shoots where everyone leaned into the absurdity and had fun with it.

The result was a fitness commercial that did not feel remotely like a typical fitness commercial.

That audition tape was shot on a phone, in the middle of somebody else's production, with no preparation. It is a reminder that the useful thing on a set is often not the equipment.

The projects you don't forget

This is still one of those productions I remember because of how unexpectedly everything came together. A phone call during another shoot. An impromptu audition. A completely unexpected casting connection. And eventually horses, trumpets, and a British accent.

Production has a funny way of connecting people and ideas that otherwise never would have crossed paths. Sometimes those are the projects you remember most.
